Rescue Squad Seeks Donations Through Letter Drive December 2nd, 2009 Rescue Squad Seeks Donations Through Letter Drive
DuPont Rescue Experience 2009 During the weekend of November 6th, 2009; over 175 rescuers gathered at the Guion Farm in the DuPont State Forest for 48 hours of training and exercises.  Attendees from all across the state participated in searches and rescues, better preparing them for a real event.  This event was sponsored by NC Emergency Management, Blue Ridge Community College, the NC Search and Rescue Advisory Council, Henderson County Rescue Squad, Haywood County Emergency Management, Brevard Rescue Squad, Wake Canine Search and Rescue and the NC Forest Service.
NC Helo Aquatic Rescue Team Training During the week of November 2nd, 2009; the NC Emergency Management Helo Aquatic Rescue Team (NCHART) conducted training at DuPont State Forest.  NCHART is a highly specialized team consisting of North Carolina National Guard assets matched with North Carolina Emergency Management and local emergency services personnel that form a mission ready package for helicopter based rescues using the UH-60 Blackhawk.
Dogs rescued from rock quarry

On Tuesday October 13th the HCSO Animal Enforcement division was dispatched to two dogs trapped on a rock ledge in an old quarry behind the Flat Rock Playhouse.  Lt. Ben McKay with Animal Enforcement along with several other Officers responded to the scene.  Once on scene, Lt. McKay realized that without some assistance from the Henderson County Rescue Squad and their High Angle Equipment the rescue of the dogs would not be possible.
