Rescuers Respond to Coast for Hurricane Irene
On Friday September 26th at Noon the Henderson County Technical Rescue Team was deployed by North Carolina Emergency Management in preparations for the landfall of Hurricane Irene.  The 22 person team was made up of rescuers from the Henderson County Rescue Squad, Dana Fire & Rescue, Mills River Fire & Rescue, Mountain Home Fire & Rescue and Valley Hill Fire & Rescue.  The team staged Friday night in Goldsboro, NC and was moved into New Bern, NC on Saturday the 27th during the landfall of the storm.
NC Helo Aquatic Rescue Team Training During the week of November 1st, 2010; the NC Emergency Management Helo Aquatic Rescue Team (NCHART) conducted training at DuPont State Forest.  NCHART is a highly specialized team consisting of North Carolina National Guard assets matched with North Carolina Emergency Management and local emergency services personnel that form a mission ready package for helicopter based rescues using the UH-60 Blackhawk.
Rescue Squad Completes Incident Support Trailer Rescue Squad completes Incident Support Trailer
During September of 2010 the Rescue Squad placed in service thier incident support trailer.  The 28' trailer is setup with two areas to support large scale incidents.  The front is a 14' Incident Management Area complete with computers and printers for incident documentation.  The rear area is setup for transporting the equipment and supplies needed to support a 72 hour incident.

Since 1957 the purpose of the Henderson County Rescue Squad has been to serve at any time, upon proper request, on any mission of mercy; to aid and assist in case of disaster or accident, within the capacity and mission of the Rescue Squad, where human life is or has been endangered.
